Webinar (Online)

Training for Employers in Horticulture, Viticulture, Primary, Tourism, Ski & Snow, Summer Industries, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Health Industries.

Speakers:
  • Rachel Simpson (Manager - Education, Skills and Immigration, BusinessNZ)
  • Peter Elms (Director, Visa, ImmigrationNZ) responsible for the performance of Immigration’s temporary work and skilled residence visas.

Overview:

From 8 December 2025, two new seasonal work visas will come into effect: the Global Workforce Seasonal Visa (GWSV) and the Peak Seasonal Visa (PSV). These changes will impact how businesses recruit, employ, and support seasonal workers across industries such as horticulture, agriculture, meat and seafood processing, engineering, manufacturing, health and tourism and hospitality (including ski and snow).

To ensure employers are ready, Business South is hosting a focused session in November. This session will provide practical guidance on what the new rules mean for your business, how to prepare, and how to stay compliant while meeting workforce demands.

What You’ll Learn:
  • Visa pathways explained – key differences between GWSV and PSV, eligibility requirements, and employer obligations
  • Recruitment and advertising obligations – when roles must be advertised locally and when exemptions apply
  • Employment agreements – updates on conditions, insurance, accommodation, and compliance obligations
  • Operational impacts – how changes affect workforce planning in peak seasons (e.g. ski fields, harvest, summer tourism)
  • Legal insights – risk areas and how to protect your business
  • Q&A session – direct answers to your specific business questions

Who Should Attend:
  • Employers in Horticulture, Viticulture, Primary, Tourism, Ski & Snow, Summer Industries, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Health Industries
  • HR and recruitment managers preparing for seasonal staffing
  • Business owners seeking to stay up to date with immigration compliance
