To familiarize ourselves to some of the fundamentals of Te Reo Māori for those starting their reo journey.
Adult learners with no experience in Te Reo Māori.
- Familiarize ourselves to vowel sounds and consonants
- Learn a karakia (prayer)
- Learn a waiata (song)
- Learn a brief mihi (greeting)
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to have the confidence to start diving deeper in to Te Reo.

Richard (Richie) Ratahi from Richard Joseph & Associates
Richard has had a background in tertiary and Māori education since before he left his kura kaupapa, Te Kura Whakapumau in 2009. He has lectured Reo classes for Te Wananga O Aotearoa and facilitated a Whanau Ora Certificate through Otago Polytech aswell as led community based initiatives along side local Māori in and outside of Dunedin. Richard's strengths lie in his ability to navigate both Te Ao Māori (the Māori realm) and Te Ao Hurihuri (the ever changing modern world) and delivering workshops with enthusiasm and understanding.
