Writing in a complicated way will confuse your readers.  Writing in plain English helps you communicate better with your readers and is more persuasive.  It involves the use of simple, active sentences made up of familiar and concrete words.

This virtual course will show you how to create clear documents so you connect with your readers. If you want to communicate for greater clarity and impact by writing in plain English, this is the course for you.
 
Through discussion and revising writing samples, participants will explore how to follow the principles of plain English for excellent results.
Participants are requested to bring a written sample of their writing to the presentation for self-editing and analysis.  This course explores how to write in plain English in a variety of formats.

Course format

This course is a virtual and live 5-hour course.  Concepts of plain English are explained, then applied through practical exercises and discussions.  Real-time interactions such as group activities, polls and Q&As will allow you to connect and ask questions throughout the course.  Participants will be given time to self-edit their writing sample and may submit an excerpt for the presenter to review.
