YES Otago is seeking judges for the Mid-Winter Pitches at the end of May in both Dunedin and Cromwell.
As a YES judge, you will hear short pitches from YES student teams; with each team presenting their business idea in a five-minute pitch. Judges will assess each idea against key criteria such as problem clarity, value proposition, innovation, feasibility and presentation effectiveness. Judges will then provide scores and brief constructive feedback to help students refine their thinking, strengthen their business model and improve their pitch skills as they progress through the programme. The role is supportive and developmental, aimed at encouraging confident communication and practical entrepreneurial learning.
We are currently confirming dates and venues, however the Mid-Winter Pitch events are tentatively scheduled for 26–27 May in Dunedin, with two sessions each day hosted at Polson Higgs and another session at Start Up Dunedin. On 28 May, QT Central Lakes teams will be pitching in Cromwell.
This is a valuable opportunity to reconnect with the teams you met at Spark Tank and see how their ideas have progressed from early concept towards real market application.

Sessions are structured to be efficient and engaging and your insights play an important role in helping students strengthen their business thinking, communication skills and confidence.
