Thu 2 July 8:30am - 10:00am
Hutton Theatre, Tūhura Otago Museum, 419 Great King Street, Dunedin North
Long description:
Mental health medication management is one of the most complex, and often overlooked, challenges in workplace wellbeing. When employees are on psychiatric medications that no longer serve them, the path forward isn't always clear, and the consequences for productivity, attendance, and retention are real.
Join Dr Rod Pik (Psychiatrist) and Marleen van Oeveren (Clinical Pharmacist) from Ashburn Clinic for an honest conversation about New Zealand's only dedicated Deprescribing and Tapering Clinical Service. They'll cover how safely reducing or discontinuing medications like antidepressants, antipsychotics, and benzodiazepines can improve outcomes for employees and their workplaces, while managing withdrawal risk properly.
Ashburn Clinic is a not-for-profit psychiatric hospital based in Dunedin, offering specialist diagnosis, treatment, and recovery support for mental illness and addiction. This is a rare chance to hear directly from the clinical team doing this work.
